BPPA Annual Conference 2023 – ‘Practical Philosophy’

The British Postgraduate Philosophy Association (BPPA) is glad to announce that our CFA for the 2023 Annual Conference is now closed, and that registration for the conference and the Annual Masterclass is now open . The theme of the Conference and the Masterclass is somewhat open, exploring all topics within the branch of practical philosophy, including (but not limited to): political philosophy, feminist philosophy, social epistemology, environmental ethics, philosophy of technology, philosophy of law, philosophy of public policy, and so on. For practical information about the conference, please scroll down to the bottom of the page. 

 

The conference is scheduled to take place from the 13th to the 14th of October, at the University of York. The conference will also include the Annual Careers Workshops. In addition to this, we will organise the Annual Masterclass, a half-day event, as a part of our conference. The Masterclass is an opportunity for postgraduate students to learn about a certain topic from some of the world-leading senior experts on that topic. There is a small registration fee of £15, which will help us cover the costs of the conference. Those wishing to attend online can also do it, with a reduced fee of £10. Registration is free for all members of the BPPA; you can check how to become a member here. Moreover, there will be a conference dinner on the 13th October; an extra charge of £8 is required for those wishing to attend, regardless of their status as members. Practical information

​

Venue: The conference will take place at King's Manor, University of York. King's Manor is a beautiful Grade I-building dating back to at least the 15th century, and located at the very centre of the city. The full address is: Lecture Theatre K159, Exhibition Square,  YO1 7EP, York. 

​

Online attendance: Participants that registered for online attendance will receive a Zoom link on the eve of the conference starting day.

​

Accommodation: Affordable hotels in the city centre include: Travelodge York Central, Holiday Inn York City Centre, Premier Inn York Central, and others. 

​

Meals: Lunch is not provided, but snacks, coffee and tea will be served during the breaks.
